I create my own tone by winding my own pickups. I have two different winders that allow me to design a sound that suits any style. From scatter wound bobbins to a tight even wind, I love mixing different wire and magnet combinations. I can make standard classic PAF style humbuckers, with well rounded tone, and a clean punchy bottom end. I can also make P-90s, Strat or Tele style pickups. All of my pickups are wax potted to reduce feedback and keep those coils tight.
My neck humbuckers are usually underwound with about 4500 winds per bobbin, and feature an Alnico 5 magnet. These pickups are bold and punchy when used with an overdrive, but ring with clarity and shimmering tone when played clean. Backing off the volume just slightly on my guitars make these clean up really easy.
My bridge humbuckers can be warm with smooth overdrive, or extremely hot with a wide range of overtones. I use 42AWG, 43AWG or 44AWG and a wide range of Alnico and ceramic magnets to make a custom sound that matches your style. I also use either standard push-back or 4-conductor hookup wire allowing for series/parallel and coil splitting options. I use only high quality parts and wire in my pickups.
